HSU was the Prime Contractor to transform the stairwell with intricate finishes, giving the building a more modern look. We provided an infill of two landings at the existing bottom of the staircase on the 2nd floor, which we recreated at the existing handrail that matches the mirror-polished finish and runs all the way up continuously.

This intense project proved challenging working in a tight space, with meticulous cutting of the existing handrail, steel stringers, and concrete treads. A great amount of effort went into the demolition phase to remove multiple sections from the building by hand, where many sections required four (4) people to carry one piece away from the building.

The building was occupied, which required extensive coordination with other contractors performing a tenant fit-out on the floor below, and other tenants occupying this 11-story space.

This project included demolition, fireproofing, structural support/ironwork, concrete, drywall, stone flooring, and painting. We removed the existing stair and repaired the drywall and base, and installed tile with a modified glass rail.
