HSU completed remodernized the 15,000 square foot Pentagon’s Integrated Emergency Operations Center (IEOC). This mission-critical project included demolition and replacement/reconfiguration of all old interior walls, flooring, mechanical systems including ductwork and HVAC systems, communication systems, electrical systems, sprinkler systems, and access flooring. New ADA compliant restrooms, drywall and finishes, new systems furniture with custom consoles, new sound-rated doors and windows, and motorized blinds were installed.
HSU worked closely with the Pentagon’s stringent high-security requirements and completed the project in time for the 2009 Presidential Inauguration.
Challenges included: Complex MEP and communication systems; work on an active, functional campus; utilities including sanitary, storm, water, and communications; numerous specialty subcontractors; phasing; fire and security systems; and commissioning.
The IEOC consolidates emergency operations of the two key agencies responsible for protecting the Pentagon-the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) and the Washington Headquarters Service (WHS).
