HSU was the prime contractor to construct two Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) mock-ups. Highly specialized surgical equipment was installed and required to conform with all construction standards that would be required for construction of actual NICUs.
The construction took place in an occupied hospital and HSU remained in compliance with stringent safety and quality control standards including Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), OSHA, Infection Control and Risk Assessment (ICRA). The highest level of dust/particle control was utilized including Interim Life-Safety Measures (ILSM), negative air measures and monitoring, rolling containment units, and comprehensive signage.
